Founded in 1916 by Dr. Robert B. Kerr, our organization is the oldest voluntary public health agency in New Hampshire. We are the primary resource for lung health information and programming in the Granite State, and we take our mission seriously.
Since our founding, we have changed our name several times. In 2007, our Board of Directors made the strategic decision to remain an independent, New Hampshire nonprofit. Despite the name changes, we have remained the same legal organization, advancing the same mission since our founding.
Our Board of Directors, volunteers, staff and all those that support our work are proud of our long history. We could not continue to advance our mission, to eliminate lung disease and improve the quality of life for those living with lung disease in New Hampshire, without their support and involvement.
We invite you to look at our 2024-2025 Annual Report as it will provide an overview of our current program of work and events. We also hope that you will consider becoming involved or supporting our important work.

Allyssa and Cindy have each dedicated nearly a decade of their careers to Breathe New Hampshire, bringing unwavering commitment, deep expertise, and a shared passion for improving lung health across the state.
Allyssa’s work with the National MS Society and Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) focused on program development, education, and mission delivery. Her strategic, community-centered experience strengthens Breathe New Hampshire’s programs and outreach.
Cindy’s career includes leadership roles with the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Heart Association, where she specialized in fundraising, donor relations, and event management. Her relationship-centered approach and ability to build strong philanthropic support help sustain and expand Breathe New Hampshire’s mission.
Looking ahead, Allyssa and Cindy are focused on strengthening community, deepening connection, and expanding support for all those impacted by lung health challenges. They are excited for the journey ahead and hope you will join them as Breathe New Hampshire continues to grow, evolve, and serve the people who count on us.
