Breathe New Hampshire

Founded in 1916 by Dr. Robert B. Kerr, our organization is the oldest voluntary public health agency in New Hampshire. We are the primary resource for lung health information and programming in the Granite State, and we take our mission seriously.  

Since our founding, we have changed our name several times. In 2007, our Board of Directors made the strategic decision to remain an independent, New Hampshire nonprofit. Despite the name changes, we have remained the same legal organization, advancing the same mission since our founding. 

Our Board of Directors, volunteers, staff and all those that support our work are proud of our long history. We could not continue to advance our mission, to eliminate lung disease and improve the quality of life for those living with lung disease in New Hampshire, without their support and involvement.

President & CEO

Maryanne Ferguson, MPA

Maryanne Ferguson is the President & CEO of Breathe New Hampshire. Before joining our organization, Maryanne served as Executive Director at Summerhill Assisted Living and Memory Care in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Before Summerhill, Maryanne was Executive Director of Monadnock Collaborative and Pilot Health, both social services agencies working to provide social and support services for all populations in both the Monadnock Region and Sullivan County.

Prior in her career, Maryanne worked in public health at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, New Hampshire where she engaged worksites, restaurants, and schools to provide healthy programs for their employees, patrons and students, including tobacco cessation, healthy food options and active living initiatives. Maryanne worked with Breathe New Hampshire as part of that public health initiative.

Maryanne holds a Master in Public Administration from Norwich University and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Keene State College.
