Title: President & CEO
Reports to: Board of Directors
Classification: Exempt

Basic Function: The President & CEO reports to the Board of Directors. Responsible for all daily operations of this 105-year-old public health organization, as well as for advancing its strategic and tactical direction. Responsibilities include the entire scope of running a 501(c)(3) state-wide organization. The President & CEO, working with the Board of Directors and Staff, will work to secure the necessary resources to fund the organization’s annual program of work, and to continuously explore new programmatic initiatives and new sources of revenue.

Qualifications: General qualifications require a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, with a graduate degree preferred, with a minimum of five years’ experience working within a 501(c)(3) entity.

Excellent communications skills are important to this position, as well as experience managing staff. An ability to collaborate, work as a team player and interact effectively and positively with Board of Director members, Staff, Partners and Volunteers is critical.

General Responsibilities: The general responsibilities for the President & CEO position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Reporting to and working with a Board of Directors, who meet on a quarterly basis, and whenever necessary. In preparation for board meetings, work closely with the Board Chair to plan agendas, ensuring that departmental reports are prepared.

  • Attend and participate, along with appropriate staff members, in all meetings of the organization’s standing committees.

  • Manage and meet with various constituents and funders as necessary.

  • Work with the Board Treasurer and Staff Accountant to oversee and manage all investment, financial and accounting activities.

  • Ensure that all Local, State and Federal legal requirements are maintained, that all organizational policies and procedures are current and relevant, and that the office condominium, as well as the overall property is properly maintained.

  • Work with the Staff Accountant to review and approve all accounting and financial documents, continuously being mindful of adhering to good internal controls.

  • Work with the Human Resource and Accountant staff members to review, manage and approve the various employee benefits plans for health, dental, life and disability insurance.

  • Work with organization’s Insurance Agency to manage, review and renew the various liability insurance policies.

  • Work with the Board Chair and Nominations Committee to recruit individuals to serve on the organization’s board of directors and to serve on the various standing committees.

  • Work with the Director of Programs to help ensure programs delivered in the State of New Hampshire are consistent with the strategic plan and the agency’s mission.

  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy to help oversee and cultivate all aspects of revenue generation and to manage the various channels of communication.
