 | The Summit Begins Friday, Nov. 20 and
concludes Saturday, Nov. 21. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. Friday. |
The New Hampshire Youth Network is a youth-led program and the summit is no exception. The Amazing Race, the theme of the New Hampshire Youth Network’s first statewide youth summit, will unite youth across the state to clean up our air and improve lung health. Thirty talented Youth Advisory Board (YAB) members have been preparing for the summit for several months and have spent a lot of time helping brand the network, planning the summit, and preparing to present workshops at the summit. You will see the YAB members throughout the two-day event, serving as MC’s, workshop presenters, and team leaders. The Amazing Race is an exciting opportunity for youth between the ages of 11 and 18 to gain new knowledge and skills that will empower them to make a difference in their communities now and in the future. This summit will bring 200 youth advocates from across New Hampshire together with their adult advisors to learn how to create healthier communities for all. All youth attendees will: - participate in seven workshops and team building activities
- receive a certificate of attendance upon completing the summit training program
- become a member of the New Hampshire Youth Network
- get New Hampshire Youth Network branded gear
Some of the workshops explore different issues that impact our breathing, such as: - the technology behind hybrid cars
- how to reduce idling at schools
- the tobacco industry’s marketing efforts toward children
Other workshops will provide participants the opportunity for hands-on practice in communication and community leadership skills such as: - Presentation Skills
- Working with the Press
- Legislative Advocacy
- Activism
After participating in the Statewide Summit, NHYN members will be prepared to engage other youth and adults in matters that impact breathing: tobacco use, air quality, and the environment.
