On June 30, 2008, we completed our first fiscal year as Breathe New Hampshire and I am pleased to report our transition was successful and proceeded according to plan. That success, without question, is attributed to the dedication and loyalty of all of you. Your continued support, as donors, volunteers, event participants and corporate sponsors demonstrated you agree that remaining a New Hampshire based organization is the best way to advance our critical mission. The decision to remain independent of a national organization has had many benefits. We have been able to update program materials that were outdated and tailor them to address issues specific to New Hampshire. We have been able to explore and implement more innovative programs to help individuals in our state overcome nicotine dependence, manage asthma and other chronic lung diseases, and protect air quality. In short, Breathe New Hampshire has greater latitude as to how we advance our mission, while ensuring that your support stays focused on the lung health challenges in this state. | Daniel Fortin is the President & CEO of Breathe New Hampshire. He is a native of the state with a 14-year history with the organization, having served first as a volunteer, then as a member of the Board of Directors, and currently, as President. |
